Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania, talks about the importance of racial, socioeconomic, and religious diversity at colleges in a video on bigthink, a new Web site that is meant to be a YouTube for intellectuals. In addition to featuring academics, the site includes one- to two-minute videos from politicians, artists, and business people.
And don’t forget that TeacherTube is still a great resource of education oriented videos uploaded by teachers.
Get a Mac from Santa? Switching from Windows? Here are some really useful links that have helped me to make the transition when I got a Mac laptop two months ago.
Lifehacker’s Guide for switching to a Mac is a fantastic guide for switching from Windows to Mac, with some great user comments and tips from people who have switched. Also useful is their guide to how to tweak an out of the box Mac for usability.

In general, I find Lifehacker to be a really useful and reliable site; one of my top feeds of all time.
During the break, the Blackboard server was upgraded to add more disk space to it. Since last spring, Blackboard has been constantly more than 85% full, and by the end of last fall
term was at 95% full.
On January 3rd, a disk upgrade tripled the size of the available room on Blackboard, which should provide plenty of room for PDF and audio files for the next year or two.
