Data Projection System: Library 020

  1. Turn Main Power for the podium ON. Computers and VCRs are attached to the Data Projection System.
    • Leave SCOTT AMPLIFIER on, set at AUX for all sound purposes. Adjust volume using the control on the amplifier.
  2. Turn on the projector. Press the red Display Power button on switcher.
    • The bulb takes a minute to warm up before responding. If you’re unsure whether projector is on, look up at the projector lens to see if the light is on.
  3. Follow instructions for the equipment you are using:
    • For the Mac computer, turn on the computer and select #1 button on switcher.
    • For the Dell computer, turn on the computer and select #2 button on switcher.
    • For a laptop connection, attach the laptop cable bundle on shelf to the laptop for both projector and Internet access. Select #3 button on switcher and turn on the laptop.
    • For the VCR, use the AIWA player for either foreign PAL tapes or standard VHS tapes. Press #4 on the switcher, insert tape and press play.
    • For a DVD, select #6 button on switcher for DVD viewing.
    • For satellite, select #7 button on switcher for satellite program viewing.
  4. You may blank the screen temporarily by pressing the Display Mute button on the switcher. Be sure to turn the picture back on by pressing the button again.
  5. Turn off the projector. Press and hold red Display Power button for about one second.

For problems with tables, chairs, chalk, heating, lighting, etc., contact Facilities Services x3231.

Quick Reference for EXTRON SWITCHER, select:

  • 1 for MAC G4 Computer.
  • 2 for Dell Computer.
  • 3 for Laptop. (Connect the cable first, and then turn on laptop)
  • 4 for AIWA video player.
  • 6 for DVD Player
  • 7 for satellite broadcast.

A screen can be used for any projected image (from a data projector, slide projector or overhead projector).

Currently we have 6 screens in our inventory:

  • 3 @ 60 inches
  • 2 @ 70 inches
  • 1 @ 84 inches

There are currently four data projectors in the Media Center’s inventory for circulation.

Data projector accessories

Each projector comes with instructions, a remote, and four cables (data, audio, USB and power). If you have a Macintosh laptop you may need to check-out a mac adapter along with the data projector.
